Interested to know where everybody goes on the net to look for extended weather forecast, on my holidays in June and want to look nearer the time re rain expected vs allotment...
Owing to a few hobbies and things I do I tend to check weather sites out for them - they basically are fair weather pastimes. Really none are much use.
I have watched the BBC weather saying it was a sunny morning then becoming an cloudy afternoon, looking out the window during the forecast and in the morning it was cloudy, but it developed into a fine sunny sfternoon. So the exact opposite of what they were actually saying in real time.
Today: Been checking since Saturday. Saturday and Sunday said today (Tuesday) would be sunny periods and warm, looked good. Monday it changed to cloudy 100% all day and even this morning it said dull 100% cloud all day with rain. Actually the Saturday and Sunday offering was right, sunny periods and some fluffy white could, and warm, no rain.
For your information I use quite often The Weather Outlook, oddly their 7 day prediction seems better then their short term (accurate) 48 hour one. They do say that the 2 options use differnt models and it seems the 7 day one comes out the better.
I also read the sites with pressure charts and work out from those what they mean/imply.
Theweatheroutlook.com is great for charts - for the most accurate short term forecasts use the Arpege model Arpege charts.
For a good overview of the next 10 days I use windfinder.com - choose your local weather station from the map. They use the GFS model and update it very quickly once a new run is out, which is 4 times a day. There is also a "superforecast" which is a higher resolution model and tends to be a little more accurate.
No model will give you a completely accurate forecast. If it is important to you to know if it is going to rain, use one of the radar sites. I find Weather Radar - Live UK Rainfall Radar - 5 Minute Updates - Netweather.tv the best as it updates every 5 minutes and is only about 10 minutes behind reality.

Thank you
What concerns you? That it will be too hot and your plants will need watering?
Just make sure they can be watered/ventilated during your holidays then go away and enjoy yourself.
If the weather turns out to be cold and dry, it won't matter.
Thank you all for your replies plenty to look at later this evening!!!!
Veggie: We have an irrigation soaker at home so I was going to look at forecast to work out if it was required, last year was plenty of rain whilst I was on holiday. The allotment is where I have only joined since October and a little unsure about asking someone to water my area as its large and we all have busy times but I was wanting to plant some direct seeds (beans for drying) but will be a little pointless if its really dry.... Failing that I will wait for Penellype to put up her forecast apparently tee hee
