  • Tom ends in second truss

    Morning all,

Hope the photo shows it clearly enough, but basically this tom seems to have ended at the second truss.
There is what seems to be a side shoot inbetween the last main leaf and the top/end truss but thats it, the plant is a sungold btw, never seen this before, is it common with sungol

I don't grow Sungold but I've had this happen to other tomato plants. When it does, I just let the top sideshoot grow to take over the job of leader.

It would grow better if you plant it in another bed

I grow Sungold every year and this is a new one on me. Follow the advice given and as insurance create yourself a back up plant.

Allow one of the side shoots you normally nip out and throw away to grow on to about 3 inches in length, carefully remove it and pop it in something like a milk bottle filled with water. Keep the water topped up and in about a week it will throw roots, allow them to develop and then pot up into moist compost.

These are off a Tumbler I had to rescue when the hanging basket err ..........fell off the wall
