  • chilli Plant Identification

So, While spraying for GreenFly I stupidly mixed up the labels of each plant. As I forgot to put them back in after doing it and started putting them in the trays xD

I have either HotScotch or Basket Of Fire
Can someone help me identify the plants?

By hot scotch im guessing its scotch bonnet ?, either way id guess that plant 1 is the scotch bonnet and plant 2 the basket of fire, really is a shot in the dark at this stage though.
Once the plants start fruiting they will be miles appart and easilly identifiable, basket of fire rammed with small chillis, the bonnet ( assuming thats what it is ) a lot fewer fruit and bigger.

Agree with jackarmy, you'll be able to tell from the fruit/chillies when they appear, basket of fire are small traditional shape multi coloured, whereas scotch bonnet are shaped like a Scotsman`s bonnet hence the name

Yep my money would also be on 1 being the hopscotch.

Scotch bonnet is in the same family as habanero which I've grown before (capsicum chinense). These plants seem to start off much squatter and closer to the soil, with larger, waxier leaves. I don't know about hopscotch but habanero itself is quite slow growing in comparison to capsicum annuum, which is what the basket of fire is.

From the annums that I've grown, these tend to grow upwards much faster.

I agree, although they do look extremely similar. The internodal distances on plant 1 appear much shorter than plant 2, which is usual for a chinense in its early stages.
