Had to wait for the rain to stop before I could water my garden. I don't like watering in the rain as I get wet.

Jay you don't know the half of it............

It has rained all day everywhere is lovely and wet except me runner beans.

Planted in buckets the foliage overhangs that much no amount of rain makes any difference, the neighbours have just been treated to the sight of me in raincoat and hat (bald head) happily soaking me runner beans, even SWMBOs embarrassed for me

Having a Yoda moment.....................It seems to me that if anything is grown we are all at the mercy of the weather.

Too hot and I'm sweating like a navvies armpit whilst my basket toms wilt with exhaustion.
Too cold and we run around like things possessed covering and cosseting.
Too wet and Potty is running around with his watering can - would of liked to see that.
Too dry and I'm doing my ancient rain dance that involves feathers and bells in strategic places.
Too dark we pay out to the fat cat power companies for grow lights.
Too light and the shading material or windowlean comes out.

All the while Mother Nature is giggling into her .................
I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work. Thomas A. Edison

Yes but that’s part of the challenge, Lumpy (another part round here being pigeons…..).
2 recent BBC progs offer insights into alternatives:

BBC iPlayer - Click - Lettuce Entertain You

on hydroponic foods produced in a weather/season-controlled lab

            AND

BBC iPlayer - Supermarket Shopping Secrets - Series 1: 3. Convenience

            on prep of convenience meals.

(Both on BBC iPlayer so only available for a limited number of days, may not be available outside UK).

I quite often use convenience meals, occasionally utilise simpler hydroponic techniques, am always interested in science-based know-how…. But none of that lessens the extraordinary magic of GYO and fighting the odds, a chance for another Yoda Moment. As mentioned in an earlier note it’s a parallel universe! You win some you lose some so enjoy the challenge. I'm sure you do.
