On the allotment as soon as they grow. I don't know if it's rabbits or slugs. If I plant them when they are about 8 inch tall do you think they'd have a better chance?

Same happened to me last year, twice. I gave up! I think it was rabbits because they were completely eaten down to the stalks. Every plant, both times. Try constructing a net barrier around them. It will probably have to remain in place all season if it's rabbits because they'll nibble through the stems at the bottom!

2 weeks ago I lifted 20 CFB plants & put them back into pots as they were getting munched. They are now starting to regrow but I'm still undecided when & how to re-plant them..............You are not alone.sigpic“Gorillas are very intelligent, but they don't have to be as delicate as chimps -- they can just smash open the termite nest,”

Last year in the very wet early summer my runner beans were completely demolished by slugs and snails. I planted some more in a 30 litre bucket and despite still being a little bit nibbled they did manage to grow and give a decent crop.A life is like a garden.
