  • ID of "mesclun mix" salad?

    I bought some seeds of "mesclun mix" sallad on ebay, i have never growed lettuce before, so i was just wonder can anybody identify this sallad? It look like two different varieties. Thank youClick image for larger version

      mesclun means mixture. It's probably several different salad leaves, maybe lettuce, rocket, mustard - depends on who the supplier is.

        The two leaves on the left look like mizuna, the one on the right is purple mustard.

          Ok thank you i eat them, and they tasted great, just the stem of purple mustard was a bit sour. I hope they are as edible as young as they are as full grown/mature?

              I grow Mesclun all year round, don't forget its 'cut and come again'. Grown in 6"x6"x18" troughs I have used one since January, replanted today whilst trough number 2 will start cutting tomorrow.

              I like the variety of tastes, plus it is very easy to grow.

                You need to eat the leaves small, don't let them get too big or they will be chewy and hot.

                  They are too big? even the "red giant mustard"? cause when I Google it, it look so big, is`nt it supposed to be big?
