  • better late than never

on Saturday I sowed the third attempt at parsnips, the first didn't show, the second was sown in the greenhouse, then transplanted as soon as they showed, only to die of thirst in the strange, dry, weather in april (dry? in Scotland?),so I bought some fresh seed and tried again, alongside some late beetroot, and its not stopped raining since, which may be good news as it is really early spring weather, might fool the seeds. I don't want to have to buy nips for our curried parsnip soup, which we have been making a while now, a really tasty soup, with some fresh cobs...oh yessssssss..

Buffs not sure why but this year my parsnips germinated almost straight away and I'd bought the cheapest seeds I could find after having a couple of failures in previous years thought I'd give cheap seeds a go
    Location....East Midlands.

Buffs, I'm about to start mine too. Not sure if they'll germinate here, but like you, I reckon better late than never, and small ones are better than none.

I used some old seeds the other year after forgetting to buy fresh, and I got about 95% germination, so there is no telling how good some o these seeds are, and if I had sorted the watering for while we were away , we would not have lost so much as we did, but I was told "it was sorted",and it proved to be anything but, and it was not the waterers fault, it was lack of proper instructions by OH...nuff said..
