  • Wrinkly toms

    Hi everyone,

I noticed this morning that some of my Tigrella toms seem to have gone wrinkly. I feed and water them regularly (though what is usual - esp. in the heat of the last week?). They are outside, two to a grow-bag in a sheltered walled area of my garden geting plenty of sunshine. They're also taking an age to ripen (though I assumed that that was the norm!?).

What am I doing wrong? Can anyone help? I've attached a pic. Thanks, Julia

Wrinkling is unusual on the plant, usually happens after they've been picked. It is a sign that the fruit is drying out instead of ripening. Are the roots still in good condition, and is the whole plant showing signs of wilting? My tomatoes are pathetic this year, poor growing, slow to ripen, some fruit splitting although I have been careful to keep them well watered. I think the erratic temperatures and poor light levels earlier in the year have a lot to do with the problems. Now going to salvage what I can and look forward to next year's crop.
