  • pea frame

Went on hols for 2 weeks and came back to some chaos.
I made an A frame and bunged netting over the top, sown the whole packet in the row (I've tried thinning them before going away, will not sow a whole pack in future ) and have now come back to floppy A frames and peas that are a tangled mess and pulling the frame over.

What can I do? (apart from learning from mistakes ) They're only on one side of the frame! If I take the frames out, more than likely they will be ripped and flop over even more.

I had similar problem with beans last year....
I built another, slightly larger frame over the top of the first- then a few carefully placed bits of rope so that the half-colapsed frame was held up by the newer/stronger/bigger frame!

Last year my bean frames collapsed mid season - ended up with a Heath Robinson special propping it up with extra poles, rope tied between both sides and across 2 beds to the stakes of a blowaway. Lasted for a while till the next heave winds.

Thanks I'm useless at making things so think I'll just go for the prop up.. saying that I might just pull one row out to see what the damage is and make one new frame..? I've got 3 rows 4ft long plus a long trough at home.. so no shortage of peas!
