  • Tomorrow: prick out my basil seedlings into individual modules.

Mount my new wall mounted Gardena hose. 35m long so it will reach the end of the garden comfortably and auto retracts. No more getting the rubbish Hozelock out.

Not a whole lot else to do right now besides watering the lawn each day if there’s no rain. Hoping to see lawn seed germination in about 10 days or so. It seems to be responding well to the fertiliser treatment and is growing healthily.

        Thursday jobs
I was hoping for a nice day (forecast) but the radar picture already looks very showery.

        Dig more horsetail (weather permitting)
Finish sorting upstairs plants (some of the tomatoes are germinating and need lights)

I will be covering all my potatoes and strawberries and probably the apple tree with fleece this weekend as ground frost is possible. Please see the warning I have put in this post https://www.growfruitandveg.co.uk/gr...ml#post1593191

            • Yesterday

It has been a bad combination of rain and work this week. I did pot on my cabbage and calabrese, mixing a few up in the process. They were leggy, so buried them fairly deep and hoping for the best.

I also planted some leek seeds and some prechitted butternut squash and (old, inherited with the house) PSB seeds.

We're in for rain today and tomorrow, at least. I would like to get to the plot just to have a look, but I'll tell myself I'm dropping off the compostables.

              Weekend

The trellis remains on the list. I'm going to have to plant some of the beans out next week whatever the weather because they're getting huge and clinging to each other.

Hack down nettles, dig out big brambles and start covering very back of the plot with cardboard.

Hack down nettles, dig out big brambles and start covering very back of the plot with cardboard. - Started ripping up nettles, which were then stuffed into old milk jugs along with some water that collected on my black plastic.

                        Tomorrow

                        Trellis. Did I mention trellis?

Continue clearing back of the plot and covering with mulch.

Weed around the garlic and shallots.

                              • Today

Trellis. Did I mention trellis? - Too windy and too late when I got to the plot. Soon!

Continue clearing back of the plot and covering with mulch. - Yes, with some help today. A few brambles hacked down, nettles and grass torn out. Still digging to do, but giving myself the mental boost of seeing some clearance. Working around the nice stuff that is growing back.

Weed around the garlic and shallots. - Yes, a bit. I have some salad leaf seedlings that should start giving some cover if the weather ever gives them a boost.

Also set some slug pub traps.

                                Tuesday/Wednesday

                                Check my slug traps
Start the beans hardening off outside
Slop drowned weeds into the compost (my weed drowning bin smells pleasing awful now)
Dig out some roots and drown
                                Dare I say 'Trellis'?
