actually take my filled water containers to the plot and water the toms and chillis - I've given up on everything else in pots - they have two choices (and seem to have made a decision) - will pull a couple of young lettuce - they're tending to bolt early due to stress (bit like me at present) so I'm picking them small and sticking them in with some cheese in a sarnie at lunchtimes...

Friday was a write-off after lightning took out my fridge and internet. I spent all day sorting out the mess, while feeling quite ill, probably from shock. A pity, as there was a window of nice weather between the storms.
Yesterday I still felt weak, but managed to collect up the rain water and pull a bit of horsetail.

Digging out a previous owners compost bin, hoping to plant some swede and turnips in there before the day is out!
Edit: I am delighted to say that rain stopped play! Managed to harvest some spuds and beetroot, alongside the usual beans and courgettes, before the rain started bouncing off the ground, at which point I decided to call it a day...Last edited by Chestnut; 30-07-2018, 03:44 PM.

Harvest beans, cucumber, tomatoes, lettuce, beetroot, calabrese, raspberries, blueberries - done except blueberries, also some peas
Decided getting rid of the strawberries at the allotment was marginally more important than the horsetail in the raised beds, as there were annual weeds in amongst that were starting to flower. Took the rubbish to the tip. Also used the cooler temperature to start putting in the barrier between the grass and raspberries, a job I have wanted to do for a while but the ground has been too hard and the weather too hot.
Tuesday jobs
Pull horsetail in raised beds and tunnel
Continue with weed barrier
Mow lawns and grass at allotment if dry enough
Deadheading
Check pots for watering
Harvest blueberries, beans, peas, lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes, check courgettesA life is like a garden. Perfect moments can be had, but not preserved, except in memory. LLAP. - Leonard Nimoy
