  • Sunday's jobs
Cover up the rhubarb and garlic that is sprouting on the allotment

(.... and that's it really, but it's my excuse to go up there before my Christmas trip back to Sweden)

    • Although I've already started off some shallots in what is probably an impossible attempt to have some ready for the NVS National Championships at the New Forest Show next July, I still have to plant up a goodly number on the shortest day which is almost upon us so tomorrow, whether it is cold or not, I'll have to get some compost mixed in preparation. A fifty/fifty mix of gp and JI3 with some slow release granules added and also some vermic to keep the compost open. That's the mix I use for all my onions and shallots. Who says vegetable exhibitors don't share their secrets?

The forecast for today is appalling and the rain looks like arriving earlier than scheduled, so I very much doubt I will get any gardening done.

Its been raining since about 4am and is due to continue until about 3pm. As everything outside was already far too wet to do anything constructive with, I think I will be wrapping Christmas presents today.
