Thin out the tomatoes in 2 GHs.
When I say "Weed" I mean "clear"! Got a bit carried away tearing out Montbretia and the Hogweed and brambles that lurked within. Still some way to go - maybe tomorrow, weather permitting.

          • Rain and work stopped play today but I did manage to freeze some of the tomatoes and grab some salad bits for lunch.

Remembered about 1/2 an hour ago that I hadn't put out the trays to catch the rain water and as it is supposed to rain quite hard early in the morning I went to put them out... and discovered almost a carpet of slugs on the lawn. I got a jam jar and put them in - lost count at about 25. Then I found some on the path and some snails on the lettuces. Jam jar full, I went and got a coffee jar and added another 20 or so slugs and snails to that. My friend's chickens are going to have a nice time tomorrow evening.

Tomorrow looks a bit wet and I'm likely to be busy again at work so will be lucky to get today's jobs done.

              • Another day of preserving more of my harvest in many many ways. Hopefully today's preserving will be a little more productive than yesterday's (power was off all morning).

Yesterday managed to clear Bed 20 and sowed some Kale and spinach leaves in it, under a netted frame , as its become a chook's playground while I've been working there.
Did some catch up hoeing on Beds 21 and 22.

Today its Bed 23 for a weedover but its pouring down so I think today will be a non-starter outside.
I'll sow some salad leaves in the GH instead.

                          • Weekend jobs
I've been waiting for the weather forecast to give me some idea of what I am likely to be able to do. Unfortunately the models differ hugely - some say tomorrow is dry and Sunday is showery, some say tomorrow is wet and Sunday is dry, and some say both days are showery. In other words, they haven't a clue. Therefore I might get something done or I might not...

                            At my friend's:
The most important job was to plant the kale now that the onions are harvested, as it was getting too big for its pot. As the forecast is so dodgy I have done it this evening.
Remove potatoes (August planted Charlotte) that are clearly suffering from blight.
Check greenhouse tomatoes for botrytis, harvest any ripe tomatoes (BEFORE touching the potatoes!)
                            Fill self watering trays
Water my friend's polytunnel as she is away
                            Weeding if possible

                            At home:
                            Weeding and deadheading
                            Harvest and freeze blueberries
                            Pot up heuchera
Harvest salads, cucumber, beetroot, pak choi, beans
                            Check fennel, apples, strawberries
                            Water fence pots if necessary
                            Slug hunt

Slug hunt - done, vastly fewer slugs now than a week ago.
