                    • Tomorrow's jobs.. Clear the squash/corn bed (corn grew beautifully.. something enjoyed it but sadly, it wasn't me! Onion squash beyond delicious), slather it in chicken manure pellets and plant the shallot sets out in a few days (or a week?). Collect seaweed - full moon and storms should mean plenty washed up. Hope the rain holds off!
Update: POURED with rain. Jobs achieved, 0

Today didn't go according to plan as the treemen returned and spent all day cutting down an old ash tree - so I kept out of their way. I did do some weeding on the rockery near the house, but that wasn't on my list of jobs!

Tomorrow its Saturday 7th in Leaves week.
Fortunately, Saturday's are for catching up on missed tasks (like today's).

Could be a day in the Greenhouse - especially if the forecast rain appears.

It was a day in the GH. Completely emptied all the toms from one GH, and cleared out the pots and stuff. Tonight, there is a smoke bomb smouldering away. Its at least 15 years old so hope it still has some potency as the GH is infested with whitefly.
Tomorrow is Sunday, 8th and last day of Leaves week.
Sunday is for seed sorting for Monday, the start of Roots week and my cunning potato plan!
I also need to tidy Bed 8, and catch up on 6 & 7.
                          Do something with an H

                            • Monday jobs (likely to be busy at work)
                              Weeding and deadheading
Decision required on whether or not I am going to plant wallflowers for spring* (if so I need to get them)
                              Deal with bolting pak choi
                              Harvest salads, carrots, bolting leek
                              Check strawberries, tomatoes, calabrese.

*The flower beds in front of the front garden fence contain geraniums which have not yet finished flowering. I loathe removing things when they have not finished, but if I wait until they are killed by frost it will be too late to plant anything and I will be looking at bare soil all winter

                              • Monday jobs

Decision required on whether or not I am going to plant wallflowers for spring* (if so I need to get them) - no
Deal with bolting pak choi - no
Harvest salads, carrots, bolting leek - done except leek
Check strawberries, tomatoes, calabrese - see below

All plans went out of the window when I checked the tomatoes because the plants int he growhouse had blight. I therefore spent the time picking all the fruit and cutting down 3 Shirleys, a Mountain Magic and one of the Balconi red plants that was next to the growhouse. So far (tough wood) the plants that are at the other side of the garden don't seem to be affected (Sungold, Balconi red, Balconi yellow, Mountain Magic and my enormous Ferline) but as it is now raining again I am not hopeful they will survive much longer. All ripening fruit has been picked.

As there was now a space I moved a bucket of carrots from the darker end of the veg cage into the growhouse where it will get more light, and covered the top of the growhouse with net to keep any carrot fly out. Also moved buckets of beetroot and spinach onto a sunnier patch of the hedge path. Parts of the garden near to the garage wall will now get no sun at all until probably late March.

                                Tuesday jobs
Check tomato plants and remove any that look like they may be getting blight.
