What I intend to do today/tomorrow!

Off up t't Castle today to watch the 2nd lake being netted.

Today is Monday, 23rd October and the start of Fruits week.
I'll be sowing seeds of Bijou mangetout, Wizard Field beans and SuperAquadulce Broad bean in modules. Twinkle peas for pea shoots to grow in the GH bucket. DONE - 6 varieties of pea, 4 of broad beans and a tray of Twinkle
If the rain stops, I'll be tidying bed 23 (and the others I've missed over the weekend) Not Done
Cleaning/decluttering things with an X (Xceptionally untidy ) DONE a bit - but still a mess

Today is Tuesday, Chooksday -cleaning out and checking feed etc
Its the turn of bed 24 - weather permitting - my Alphabet is out of sync - I've lost P somewhere - better make today P for Cleaning and decluttering.

Today is Tuesday, Chooksday -cleaning out and checking feed etc DONE
Its the turn of bed 24 - weather permitting NOT DONE - rained all day again

my Alphabet is out of sync - I've lost P somewhere - better make today P for Cleaning and decluttering. DONE - Part used seed Packets. I've emptied all the open packets into 4 jars - one for roots, shoots, fruit and leaves, of course; and given them a good stir. I'll scatter them in odd corners and see if anything comes up. May end up as chook food, like last time.

Tomorrow is Weednesday, 25th when I weed somewhere out of the way - but only if the rain stops!
On Day 25 I Tidy bed 25 (again weather permitting) and do something domestic goddessy with a Y - No chance

Tomorrow I intend to order some soil and some compost so I can fill the raised beds and plant out some vegies. It's supposed to be hot and wet for the next week, but I can't really put it off any longer so I guess I'm going to be playing in mud.

Rained all morning allowing me to get upto all sorts of mischief indoors. Ordered 6 more 30 litre buckets, some seeds and netting and a book on weather forecasting. Nipped off about 6 tomato sideshoots and decided to plant the best 2 to see if they grow and give me early tomatoes. I will almost certainly regret this later! The afternoon was better, allowing me to weed the puddle that used to be my drive and cut down some of the runner beans. The hotbin has appreciated being emptied and is currently running at 65C which means it is cooking down large amounts of vegetation really quickly.

The wild strawberry plants are 3 years old and I'm going to sow some fresh seed next year, which is probably just as well. I decided I was going to remove them today, but the first (sickest looking) one I pulled came out with vine weevil larvae attached. The whole pot full of compost went straight in the hotbin, which should cook the grubs nicely. I've left the remaining 4 pots where they are at the moment as the hobin won't like too much cold wet compost all in one go. I treated these with nematodes not long ago .

As I had more time than expected today I went to B&Q and got a sheet of twin wall polycarbonate and attempted to mend the cold frame. Half of the top got broken by a cat about 10 years ago and I've been meaning to try to fix it ever since. Putting a sheet of polythene over it was completely hopeless as it pooled water as soon as it rained. I'm not all that hopeful that this will cope with any weight of snow, but I've cobbled something together using cable ties. Its meant to get windy at the weekend, so that will test it!

Tomorrow is busy as usual for a Thursday, so no gardening.

Today I'm digging the last of my spuds. Tomorrow it's supposed to cool off again and maybe start raining. Gotta get it done!

Dig up & store in garage the Dahlias that I don't want to risk being killed off by a heavy frost.

Cover the rest of Dahlias with mulch that was delivered today.

Bag up whatever mulch is left.

Tidy Bed 26 - which is the raspberry tunnel. They've suffered a bit with all the rain but I'm sure I'll find some to nibble while I work
Its also Z day, which makes me think of Zzzzz so will do some tidying and decluttering in the bedroom - or have a nap.

I also need to plant some new zucchini and sweetie tomato seeds as the ones I planted a few weeks ago aren't doing anything productive.

Tidy Bed 26 - which is the raspberry tunnel. They've suffered a bit with all the rain but I'm sure I'll find some to nibble while I work NOT DONE - too damp
Its also Z day, which makes me think of Zzzzz so will do some tidying and decluttering in the bedroom - or have a nap.DONE - chucked a few odds and ends and stayed awake

I've run out of alphabet letters so its cleaning and decluttering anything I feel like doing - probably not much

Well today was supposed to be dry, but it wasn't. In fact it rained almost all day. Tomorrow is supposed to be dry and sunny but I'll believe that when I see it.

I'd like to cut the hedge tomorrow, but I'll probably be paddling about in the puddles trying to find something constructive to do without wrecking the lawn.

Tomorrow is Saturday, 28th, Catch up day!! I'm not going to be able to catch up on all the missed beds this week, even if its a glorious day - but I'll try.

I've revamped the 30 beds, merging some and adding in new and very overgrown "beds". Unfortunately, Beds 28, 29 and 30 are some of them so the next few days are likely to end in disappointment. I can only try.
Its random decluttering day too - and I'm expecting a delivery of chicken feed so that will tie me to the house area. Hope it arrives early.
