    • Tomorrow night is garbage night and I have a council clean up booked. The day will be spent decluttering the house and yard of broken/unwanted stuff.

      • Raining and quite dark here too, in the loft today.

        • Today has been a washout. The rain held up the fireplace men from finishing their previous job so they're not coming until tomorrow - but the scaffolding has arrived, that's something!!
Its too wet to sow any seeds, even in the GH - and the porch roof is leaking again with the driving wind.
On the bright side, I've identified loads of "junk" in the garage which can go to the charity shop.

Tomorrow should be Chooksday, Tidying Bed 21 and Decluttering U's (Useless, Unwanted, Unloved thingamies). I suspect it will be also involve Fireplace men and a lot of muck.

          • Monday jobs
Likely to be restricted to cooking the apples for the freezer and harvesting salads - done, well done half the apples as the freezer is too full to do all at once.

Also took some lettuce and komatsuna seedlings to my friend's on the way to the shops (was waiting for a milder spell) and potted up the rest of the komatsuna and put them in the growhouse. The rest of the lettuces now have a bit more room to grow in the grow light garden.

Tuesday jobs (might well be dodging rain and work again)
            Continue tidying up if time
            Harvest carrots, kohlrabi.

            • Tuesday jobs
Continue tidying up if time - no, garden under water, workload too high
Harvest carrots, kohlrabi - no, no time even for this.

Horrendously busy at work thanks partly to browser updates from Chrome and Firefox playing havoc with our software. Why they have to change basics like where the thing installs on your computer I have no idea

              Rant over.

              Wednesday jobs
Batten down any loose hatches (gales)
              Harvest carrots, kohlrabi

A dash to the allotment this afternoon and although the photo looks bright it was getting dark as I finished potting up the trees into the buckets.

The name of the tree is on one side of the rim and the type of fruit is on the other.

This is not their permanent home just somewhere for me to*place them and give them a drink of water before I find a temporary home for them whist I continue clearing plot 1.

I have managed to empty out over half of a Dalek of compost filling these and the Auger I bought off ebay more than earned its money today as I had let the compost dry out a little too much.

                    • Grabbed some tomato fertiliser and some new stakes, so I guess that's what I'm doing when it cools down this evening.

                      • The last few days have been written off because of the weather and the fireplace men.

Today, Thursday was thinning/transplanting day. DONE - potted up 6 dwarf fruit trees and 12 Marshmello strawberries, transplanted Bijou mangetout and some other peas into pots in the GH.

                        Tomorrow, Friday is for Flowers
On the 24th I tidy bed 24 (the raspberry bed)
                        Declutter an X!!
Also intend to sow some herbs - I've filled the modules and brought them into the house to warm the compost. I'll read them a story before bedtime too.

                        • Wednesday jobs
Batten down any loose hatches (gales) - done
                          Harvest carrots, kohlrabi - done

Also ate the strawberry that I brought indoors to ripen - it was surprisingly good.

Today was a complete wipe-out, all I managed to do was walk round quickly and pick up one trough of fuchsias that had blown over.

                          Friday jobs
Start preparations for frost as the next week or so is looking quite cold. Once things in my back garden freeze solid, they stay frozen for ages as they get no sun.
                          - remove water trays from under saladgrow planters and from cold frame
                          - bring all remaining begonias into garage
                          - bring a bucket of carrots into garage
                          - consider digging some leeks and planting into a bucket to move into garage
                          Clear up leaves
Harvest salads, carrots and any strawberries that are turning red (I think there are 2).

                          • There's not much I can do in the garden today apart from mowing. It's going to be 30+ for the next few days so I'll probably put that off.

On the plus side, the warmer weather should help the capsicums along and help the fruit on the tomato plants grow.

I had to look up what a Saladgrow planter is and now I want one (or three).
