    • Righto. It's time to dust off the propagator and sow some onion seeds. Also to start boxing up the Chrysanthemum stools ready to get some cuttings.

      • Tuesday's job is to contact the man about the allotment. What else I do depends on when he can see me and how long it takes.

        • Hope all goes well, Pene.

Tuesday is Chooksday - cleaning out, feed topping up etc.
Tidying bed 2 (no chance unless the rain stops soon).

          Decluttering a B (Bathroom).

Doesn't sound a very exciting day - may need to tangentise myself.

          • Today I hope to dodge the showers and re-mark the square feet on my vegetable bed. Also I should be able to finish boxing up chrysanthemums ready to take cuttings in six weeks or so. My greenhouse will then be ready for the spring onslaught.

            • I have started a 2018 diary, recording temps, weather, ideas and what is happening in the garden etc. Which isn't much at the minute. Crocus appear to be sprouting with small green shoots appearing. winter variety lettuce has been useless.
Need to put the cover back on the small green house after the wind removed it the other day and sort pots, seed trays etc.
probably a weekend job if not raining..

              • Tomorrow, weather permitting I intend bringing my potted chrysanths indoors,( hopefully their name tags will still be readable) to see whether they will form new shoots for cuttings.

Other possibilities are re-skinning my newly positioned polytunnel, create three collapsible rows of shelves on my summerhouse front windows and maybe set some more pantiles along path edges.

I may hang up some stained glass windows along top of summerhouse windows for a decorative effect.

                • I was hoping for a productive couple of hours down the plot tomorow, but if this bladdy rain doesn't let up I'll need a canoe to get there.

                  • Tomorrow is Weeding on Wednesday but this may be difficult with the wet ground.
                    Maybe GH decluttering instead!

Strange that, I was digging the other day and couldn't believe how dry the ground was underneath. The soil is a normal non-clay loam over what looks to be an ancient river bed.My plot is situated on the edge of a 50m cliff also. Can only asume the water is running away down the cliff. All the more reason to keep adding loads of organic matter.

                      • Having got my allotment really the only question today is am I going to be able to do anything constructive after last night's rain and with what is still a very strong gusty wind. Assuming I don't get nobbled by work (!) I will walk down and have a look, and if possible move the pile of weeds out of the tunnel and into a temporary compost heap outside. I rather suspect I will be paddling in mud and trying to secure large pieces of mesh will not be easy in the wind. Might have to formulate a plan B for this.

                        • Tomorrow's Thursday 4th, the day for Thinning and Transplanting.
There are some cabbage seedlings that should be potted up.

                          • For progress on the allotment see http://www.growfruitandveg.co.uk/gra...ent_95455.html.

Also harvested some carrots and kale yesterday.

Today's jobs (forecast to rain all day)
Assuming the forecast is right and work is not too busy, nip to the shops and get a cheap trowel, weeding fork and edging shears, as I am already wanting to use these at the allotment (no surprise). I also need a padlock for the shed.
                            Check round everything at home.
                            Continue planning.
                            Harvest salads.
