Careful of hedgehogs if poking compost piles or leaving any netting on the ground, the hedgehog here was on my patio the other night, near my cats water bowl at about 11.30pm,I’d put some mealworms on the border for the birds so he/she would’ve found those & my peas & beans if they like & probably slugs. So happy to see it again after all that cold weather & snow! I wonder where it’ll go now,it might’ve already gone.... Today I’m potting on more tomatoes & sowing some marigolds

Yesterday
Recover some soil from my clods - Some, but plenty still to go
Poke hopefully at the compost bins - Done
Trim the tops off the ornamental grass in an attempt to find the roots to dig out - Tops all stripped off and piled at the back of the plot in a shiny new heap. The roots take a much smaller space than I realized, but I do not relish the idea of digging them out
Spread some of my inherited compost/finely prepared soil on the plantable areas - Nope
Rearrange the covers for the plantable areas and the clod piles - A bit, but still needs to be done properly
Trim down some holly - Yes
Didn't get down to the plot today due to work. Not that I mind as it's quite grey and windy.
Tomorrow
Spread some of my inherited compost/finely prepared soil on the plantable areas
Rearrange the covers for the plantable areas and the clod piles
Work on bean trellis
Take seedlings outside for a bit of sunshine

Today
Spread some of my inherited compost/finely prepared soil on the plantable areas - no
Rearrange the covers for the plantable areas and the clod piles - minimally
Work on bean trellis - no
Take seedlings outside for a bit of sunshine - yes. Some seemed thrilled, others less impressed.
I was lucky to receive some help today. So we planted some potatoes and dug out the ornamental grass. Also had a chat with the tenants of the other end of our plot. It was a beautiful day for chatting and for digging.
Tomorrow
Mow the grass at home
Pot on some seedlings
Haul lawn clippings to allotment
Try to access the real life, actually rotted down compost at the bottom of the mostly dilapidated compost corral to spread on plantable area

Wednesday jobs
Collect and set up new computer - nearly done
Continue tidying garage -no
Pot up chitted peas - done the ones that have sprouted
Sow more leeks - no
Harvest salads, spinach, carrot - done
Also managed to squeeze in 1/2 an hour digging horsetail roots at the allotment, which relieved the computer-related stress somewhat. I loathe setting up new computers as it takes for ever to get them working how you want them!

Today
Mow the grass at home -done. Exposed that beautiful non-grass moss. Oh well, still looks better.
Pot on some seedlings - I've filled some pots with soil but need to make holes in some yogurt pots. In progress.
Haul lawn clippings to allotment - done. I love carrying strange things to the allotment. More of an audience on a sunny day.
Try to access the real life, actually rotted down compost at the bottom of the mostly dilapidated compost corral to spread on plantable area - nope. Too tired from the other home garden-related activities.
Tomorrow
Spread some compost
Finish potting on
Work on the trellis

Apart from nipping down to the plot to check everything and capture any visible slugs and snails, all I managed to do today was pot up a few chitted peas, put some parsnip seeds to chit and water everything.
Friday jobs
My push mower has arrived, so one job for tomorrow is to take it to the plot and see how well it cuts the grass.
Mow lawns at home
Dig horsetail out of paths and raised beds
Pot up any more peas that have chitted

Today
Spread some compost - a very little, but yes.
Finish potting on - yes. Mostly flowers, but also several tomatoes.
Work on the trellis - yes. My plot neighbors asked if I was building a treehouse (there is goat willow on my plot). Missed opportunity!
Tomorrow
Depends on the weather. I need to finish the bean trellis. I'll wait a bit on the weather to set some slug beer traps. Desperate to complete the little greenhouse for the back garden, but that is definitely weather-dependent.
