  • Was going to build another log store and order some more logs on Monday. Weather put paid to that so will have to carry on flooring out the attic instead.

I know that logs are hard to come by over the Christmas period and I probably have enough, but need to make some extra storage in case I haven't got enough.

    • I saw a lady giving away 'compost' for free on FB, so went to pick that up today, as a break in my studies. Turns out it was fresh horse manure, but that's fine too - in it went in the van. I had the dog with me and we went up to the allotment to drop the manure off, and the two bin bags of shredded paper I've taken from work, and two bags of coffee grounds.
It was drizzly up there, but warm, and I hadn't taken any tools with me at all, so I couldn't do much but potter. I emptied some boxes and tidied up, organised the shed, rummaged through rubbish left on the plot and found a watering can (with a decomposing rat in it), loads of mesh, several plastic boxes that I think have been used for forcing rhubarb, a trampoline! And lots, and lots of carpet. The guy that had it has put down carpet, then raised bed squares on TOP of it! Beggars belief.
I'm going back up there tomorrow, with the right tools with me, long lead for the dog, and hopefully I can get started in earnest. It's supposed to rain less tomorrow

      • Weather dependent. Maybe fitting a few steps to paths round my new terraced beds if I can stand upright on the mud. Otherwise, a session of household paperwork!

          • after skim-reading I spent a few minutes wondering how one would use a trampoline to force rhubarb...

Today I am mostly feeling glad I got some more mulch down on Saturday, that's most of my soil now covered. (there one bed with some thin plant cover that will get some leaf mulch in the gaps)

This weekend, I shall possibly be doing a bit of mulching, and tidying up the greenhouse prior to putting the bigger pot plants in. Maybe even a spot of re-potting if I get the time

                    • So my intention was to carry on removing enough carpet from the allotment to start laying out all my mulch. One area at a time, right?
I got three pieces of carpet removed - one was so big I had to use my saw to split it in half in order to be able to move them.
I'm loving up there on the allotment! I was just gutted to be rained out this afternoon. I'll be back up there tomorrow
