Kale - Black Tuscan under netting

I've grown the Black Tuscan under green debri netting this year, though have noticed that growth is slower and the leaves lose their firmness quickly after harvesting.

Comparatively the Silver Chard is growing very quickly.

Has anyone else experienced this?

I stick black kale in a jug of water to perk it up until it goes in the pot.

Are you saying you think the growth is weaker under the netting than it has been previously without the netting?

I've always grown my Black Tuscan is grown under black debris netting and it seem to be doing fine, I know if i didn't net there'd be nothing left what with the butterflies and pigeons.
There was a thread on here about using different coloured netting and what results members had.

Yes Bario. I'm thinking that there is less energy from the sun under the netting, when I stick my hand under the netting it is cooler than outside

Not growing black tuscan but I believe I get stronger growth from blue than green.

Of course they may be other factors as to why it's growing differently. Do you have any unnetted plants to compare growth against?

I would have thought cool is good for Tuscan kale. What might make a difference is if your netting is cutting out a lot of light.

No Jay-ell, they are all under netting I got fed up with checking for and squishing eggs & caterpillars
