  • Potting Up Strawberry Runners

I have some runners on my strawberries which I want to pot up but I only have available some John Innes Seed compost. Could I use that to pot them up?

    Best regards,
    Greg

      Potting Up Strawberry Runners

Thank you very much for the info. I will pot them when it stops raining. Well at least my water butts are full again!!

      Best regards,

The potting compost will be light on nutrients so ok for a short time but if you leave them in it you will need to feed.

Thank you for letting me know. I had intended to plant the baby plants later in the season once they had taken in the pots.

I've found that strawberry runners will pretty much grow anywhere and in any soil.

I found one in a pot on the windowsill of my shed that i had pegged down to root last summer the other week and it seems ok. A little water and its shot up.

Almost a year of no/little water and no attention didn't bother it too much...
