  • Toms again

    Looking for some help.
All my tomato's/cucumbers leaves are turning yellow. Have given them the right feed and a dose of Epsom's salt but no change. Was wondering if this could be due to lack of heat and lack of sun.
The strange thing is that my water melons are doing better than usual.
Any help would be most welcome.
Unable to send photo as the p.c. is playing up again.
    Thanks.
    Bob.

All the leaves on your plants or just some of the leaves on all your plants? If it's the latter and it's only the bottom leaves, it's probably quite normal, as older leaves start to die off as the new ones higher up take over. A photo would help if you can manage it.

if its just some I Remove them, no point having leaves that arnt 100%, the plant wont use every leaf, and it encourages new growth.. later in the season once all the trusses and fruits are set then I remove around 75% of the leaves to help ripen the toms

Goosander, are the plants in pots or in the oprn ground.
Just wondering , perhaps if they are in pots they may be too small for the plants.

              Isn't 3 litre a bit small?

I would think 3 litres is very small for cucumbers and for tomatoes unless you are going to stop them off at a couple of trusses. They are very big plants and are almost certainly becoming pot bound.

Have my second lot of plants coming on from cuttings. Will try them in larger pots and see what happens.
                  Thanks for your help.

Guys, I grow tomatoes in the ground outside. So I've never grown in pots. What size would you recommend to goosander.

I grow mine in builders buckets, the black and orange ones from B&Q. Cant say offhand what size they are but theyre big.

Windowsill plants 3 litres, expect them to look hungry after a couple of months even if fed.
                        Greenhouse plants 10 litres +
                        Garden plants 30 litre buckets/pots.

As "Lady P" no less than a 10 Ltr if grown under cover!

And would go bigger if space provales!
