Tomato Crimson Crush
Blight resistant outdoor variety

Current favourite - Ferline - rating 9/10
Ease of growth - quite vigorous plants early on, with a tendency for the main stem to fork. Not so good later, see below. 7/10
Health and vigour - plants grown both outdoors in soil and in pots in the greenhouse started to look sickly. Some blossom end rot as well in the greenhouse 6/10
Yield - very poor, with only 3-10 fruits per plant, some of which were a decent size 3/10
Taste and texture - average and not a patch on Ferline 5/10

Some of the problems could be due to a difficult year for outdoor tomatoes (the Sungold performed less well than usual), so worth another chance.

Beetroot Boldor
Yellow variety

Current favourite - Boltardy 7/10
Ease of growth - tricky - slow to germinate and had a tendency to keel over when young 5/10
Health and vigour - poor - slow to grow and yet to get anything bigger than finger width (been trying since March) 4/10
Yield - very poor - roots tend to be long and thin 3/10
Taste and texture - excellent 10/10

Frustrating as the few that I have eaten are absolutely gorgeous. I'm not very experienced at growing beetroot (only discovered that I like it last year) so I will keep trying.

Carrot Sweet Candle
Said to be the sweetest carrot

Current favourite - Nantes Frubund Fastcrop - rating 9/10
Ease of growth - no different to other carrots 7/10
Health and vigour - good 9/10
Yield - good so far having pulled a decent sized carrot to try 8/10
Taste and texture - very nice 10/10

On a par with Nantes Frubund (although probably not as winter hardy) and I will definitely be growing these again.
