Muslin for carrot fly?

Anyone here used muslin in the fight against carrot fly? Any good? Thanks!

Any fine mesh material such as enviromesh, net curtains or muslin should work against carrot fly.

I bought a special carrot net - had the best carrots with no fly - have some growing outside and some in the tunnel.

I use very fine net curtain bought from the charity shop, works for me.

Same here....Cheap Ikea net curtains work a treat...muslin should be fine...
Just keep an eye on it. Netting dries out quicker than cotton and is lighter, so the muslin may change the microclimate more underneath...or not!

Good point - the only time I used fleece to cover my carrots against carrot fly the leaves went brown and mouldy. However I did just drape it over the carrots rather than lift it off the foliage with supports, so that could have been the reason.
