It's been a wipe out year for my cabbage. The question is, what is eating them. The last lot were well netted, but were munched during the daytime. It's not slugs and snails. Could it be birds? After a test, a pigeon sitting on the netting would bring the cabbages in range, but it would be pretty awkward. Or do mice eat brassicas?

Thanks all. Not rabbits. Almost certainly not caterpillars (the damage isn't right). The stumps look like pigeons, but I'm quite surprised that they negotiated the netting. If no one thinks that mice might be responsible, this must be my only choice. And the lesson is even better netting next year...Garden Grower
