I don't think it is Target Spot aka early blight - unless you can see circles around the blotches? Photo not clear on my screen.
I think it is just the old leaves dying off.
Whatever it is removing all the affected leaves (then wash hands well, just in case) removing/thinning out foliage to increase air flow around the plants, will help.
Target spot isn't as horrible as late blight and by keeping plants clean of spotty leaves and keeping good airflow, you should still get a decent harvest

Thanks everyone. The more I look into it the less convinced I am. I wonder if the old leaves got a bit scorched when we went away for a long weekend during the dry hot spell.
Will prune the afffected areas and if it spreads will try to post some better pics!
Thanks as always!

I don't think its early blight, the damage isn't circular enough. The pictures of early blight I've seen seem to have a central area of damage surrounded by a paler area. Whereas yours just looks like a single damage, not spreading out.
However, it doesn't look like scorch to me either. Could it be insect damage?
I would keep an eye on it and if it spreads, then cut out the affected leaves (there seem to be a number in the background)
