  • Courgette question.

Most of my Courgette's are turning yellow at the end where the flower is not long after the flower falls off and then going on to rot meaning they necer get very big because i have to pick them early before the rot sets in.

    Any ideas?

I usually go and pull off the flower once the fruit has set. I think it is blossom end rot .

Here is an (admittedly old) thread that might help.

My courgettes are hardly growing at all, although there are plenty on the plants. There seems to be something about this year that courgettes don't like.

Same, all of mine produced about 5 small fruits then got some kind of mildew/ fungus and gave up the ghost

          They've not been pollinated.
we've had loads of them this year untilthe weather changed in July.
Sent from my pc cos I don't have an i-phone.

I've got enormous leaves on mine this year for some reason. I cut a few back to make sure pollinators could get to the flowers. It seems to have helped.

I know it's a daft question, but how big are they when you pick them?

All my 3 courgettes have very tall, long stemmed flowers and no forming fruit

That's the male flowers Marb, they always produce loads before the female flowers appear..you just need to wait awhile.

They must have been pollinated as they had started growing up to 4 inches and then rotting. I think its because the flower was rotting on the courgette itself as has been mentioned.

In my experience this is exactly what courgettes do when they're not pollinated - they grow to a certain size then rot from the blossom end.

I see. I can only put that down to the wet and damp weather then.

I tend to pull off the flowers if I spot them, once the fruit has formed, as it's served its purpose by then

I very rarely have any of them rotting, but no idea if it's because I pull off the flowers lol
