I do think this year has been weird for tomatoes, not just cold but lack of sunshine.
What direction does your garden face? This year my tomatoes are late but my daughter (York) has had a reasonable crop (from my plants) early but her garden faces due south and is a sun trap.
My usual comment when I get "mealy" tomatoes is that they've gone overripe but I can't say I've ever had that with Tumbler.
The only tomatoes I've recently grown from bought-in plants was Crimson Crush a couple of years ago could that be part of the issue?
However, too much water can also dilute the taste.
