It depends what kind of squash they are, Forage. Do you remember the variety name? They look rather like delicatas which are a winter squash, though not a very long storing type. Normally they are left on the plant to mature as long as possible so the skin goes hard, and harvested just before the first frost, or after the plant has died if that happens first. Though it is possible to use immature ones as if they are courgettes.

Hi, they are the rob smith range, its 'honeyboat'.
I found the label for them in the shed and it's on the tab as follows (should have checked first) :
''squash honeyboat are a super sweet variety which are easy to grow. Harving it's own built in best before date, the green stripes on the squash begin to change to orange as the fruit ages in storage. This means you always know which fruit to use first (themore orange striped ones).''
So I might pick the orange looking one now to see how it is. I've not grown much squash before so I'm sure there's a bit of experience there to be had .

I'll let you know how they taste.Last edited by Forage420; 03-09-2017, 07:43 PM.
