I was always told freckles were cute, but that was a pretty young girl with freckles, not that I noticed...

I've seen this occasionally. It doesn't appear to be listed as a disease, and according to this page Pests and Diseases affecting the fruit of tomatoes it occurs only in outdoor grown tomatoes and Gardeners Delight is particularly prone. As the marks are only in the skin (which I remove anyway) it has never bothered me.

Mine that are affected are Outdoor Girl, first time we've grown them and so far are well impressed. Prolific, good flavour and can save seeds for next year. Not many are freckly.
