all depends on your weather ... and location ... where are you? It doesn't say in your profile. Give us a clue!

I've just sowed beetroot and Autumn King. Beetroot is showing but I suspect the slugs will eat all the carrots as soon as they show, they always do

If you use quick maturing types you should be ok.

          Welcome groanathome,

I've just planted some speedy seed beetroot and some early nantes and Autumn King carrots, well about a week ago. All are showing. You should be ok but need to be quick.

Weather fab ... all going in this arvo ... soil like black gold ... priceless 2' deep of pure magic where an abandoned 40' x 20' x 6' high old horse manure heap used to be ... moved in here sept 06 ... so like most others I imagine hoping for a gorgeous indian summer to make up for the monsoon May - July we have had ...

Thanks for speedy advice and kind welcome ... Regards The Symster ...

Welcome groanathome, enjoy the site. There's lots of info here. Just a thought, if you're planting on an ex equipoo site, it will probably be very acid soil so make sure what you're planting likes acid soil or else use lime to get the balance right. I use a lot of equipoo in my patch and when I checked the Ph of the soil, the meter nearly went off the acid end of the scale!
