Veg clamp in container

Hello,

Has anyone used the veg clamp in a container? I've tried this by digging a deeper round hole, placing a few large stones to help with drainage, and placed the large deep plastic container in the bottom. The container has plenty of holes drilled in the bottom. inside, I put a layer of straw in the bottom and then a series of layers of beets and straw. The lid on top closes tight. I have found that the straw is damp and the beets seem to be sweating a bit too much. I don't know whether I need to drill holes in the top and hope the rain drains down and out properly, or whether I need to take the top off? Any advice on this type of clamp?

Welcome to the vine Mateo. I store my beets in sand in a washing up bowl in the shed. Seems to work fine and if they grow leaves they go in salad.

At the time that was written we didn't have the benefit of being able to add 'likes' . so I've just added a few!

And 'Snadgers Clamp' does sound a bit like an ailment!
