  • No show cucumelon fruit again

Second year growing cucamelons in the greenhouse. Reasonably good, healthy growth but no flowers or fruit. Rubbish.

That's a pity Marb, a few fruits would have been nice to at least try. We grew them once and they didn't produce many berries despite the plants looking healthy. Didn't rate the eating experience high enough to grow them again either.

Grew some outside couple of years ago. Loads of fruit. Nothing special. Cus better.

This year disappointing. Hardly any outside cus and very few courgettes.

If this year is anything to go by then it will be mini munch for me from now on both inside and out. I was only saying to SWMBO yesterday I have never grown a more prolific cumber, taste good too.

I don't rate the taste of cucamelons - overrated I think. Cute fruits though and I like the look of the plant. Not enough to grow them again though

I've had one single cucamelon from four plants (and most probably won't have more). It is my first year trying them so I am somewhat happy, at least I had the opportunity to taste them. Bad thing is that I quite like them, they would be really nice in salads.

I've had many flowers, both male and female. 1st female flowers in mid June, first male in beginning of August. There are still tens of flowers at the moment.
I've tried everything to pollinate - tiny brush, cotton swab, toothpick, rubbing male and female flower, no success.
I have lot of bumblebees in my garden, but they seem to prefer different flowers and completely ignore the cucamelons. I once saw one bumblebee doing two or three flowers and that was beginning of my single cucamelon.

I tried some from my tutors greenhouse a few years ago. Quite liked them, but very big plants with not a massive amount of fruit for the size of plant...

I grew them the other year and after the first couple i was bored of them. There were also TOO many, and i prefered my Crystal Lemon cucumer
