  • Giant Spring onions...ooops!

OH brought in a row of Spring onions I'd forgotten I'd sown!
they were hidden under the leaves of a row of beetroot .
Thing is, some of them are over 2" in diameter.
will they dry like normal onions or should I chop up and freeze them?

I have some of those! I'm going to griddle them as a veg - go soft and smoky and yummy...

I have some trays of onions still in their modules - I've been using them sliced in stir-fries. I also have some celeriac that never got planted *blush* and have marble-sized roots, maybe they can go in a stew lol

Nicos, I'm really jealous. I have no luck whatsoever with spring onions. "Next year", I keep telling myself.

Love the sound of happyhumph's idea. Yumptious.

OH has never seen the point of spring onions until this year when I've grown loads and been cooking them like this - great on a bbq as well. I find the tops last a few days in water and I use them in salads or stir fries.

I cheat Snoop, I just plant onion sets close together and use those as spring onions

My large Spring Onions get pickled.
Feed the soil, not the plants.

Should do as they're really the same thing. Last couple of years I've gone down the jam pack cheap set routes.
