Well it happened again
I have brought quite a few potatoes AGAIN this year (Should hopefully be a bit better than last year though)
I have brought the following:
- Foremost (For 10 Litre pots to start off harvesting)
- Ulster Prince (New one on me)
- Ulster Spectre (New one on me)
- Epicure (Never had any success with these yet but these seem to be a good allrounder (I wanted Queen Anne but couldn't get it) so they have another try)
- Vitabella (Saw these at Potato Day and got recommended so thought why not try them they look nice :P)
- Belle de Fontaney (To try something different)
- Ratte (To try something different)
- Athlete (A modern variety and thought I would try them)
- Sarpo Una (Never tried this one but A Sarpo Variety incase disaster strikes)
- Sarpo Kifli (Again just incase disaster strikes)
- Markies (An all rounder so one Maincrop)
- Rudolph (Supposed to be a good roaster but also good around and for Christmas too)
- Pink Fir Apple (Good for Salad's and Boiling so made it on the list)
I will probably end up buying some more (Not sure what yet) Anyone suggest any others?Visit my blog at: marksallotment20162017.wordpress.com

I've now got Arran Pilot, Lady Christl, Maris Bard, Charlotte, Nicola, Desiree and Sarpo Axona. I wasn't really planning on the Arran Pilot, Maris Bard or Nicola, although I had intended on trying a new variety now that I have space on my allotment, but these 3 varieties resulted from panic buying when I thought I couldn't get Lady C!A life is like a garden. I'm growing the following which I haven't tried before
Foremost
Nicola
Charlotte
Cara
Maris bard
Sharpe's express
Am also growing the following which I have grown before
Pentland javelin
Arran pilot
Kestrel (great slug resistance and heavy cropper)
Pink fir Apple (best potato ever)
This year for first time ever I'm growing in containers in a mix of horse manure, loam and coir compost with added wood ash for good measure. Going to start them off in greenhouse.
Very excited

I have Rocket , Charlotte and Kestrel for the lotty and some Sarpo Mira to try again and also as back up.
Blight ravages our plot so im trying something that "Jims Allotment) does on yootoob with the kestrel.
He leaves them as long as main crop and reckons they do just as well and store well also, will soon see.
Also some shop bought swift for buckets at home.

Might be a daft question, but - from my bag of Charlotte seed potatoes, I've a few that are a bit green.
Should I bin those ones ?.......because you're thinking of putting the kettle on and making a pot of tea perhaps, you old weirdo. (Veggie Chicken - 25/01/18)
