So I needed some more melon seeds and none of my usual seed companies sow the one that performed best this year - Magenta. These seem to only be available from plantsofdistinction, so I ordered some.
I really don't like paying postage for one packet of seeds, so I had a look at some other things that I thought might be interesting. You know what's coming next...
My PSB seeds didn't germinate all that well last year - the seed is old, so I got some more. I normally grow Early Purple, but was tempted by Rioja, which can be sown as late as August and could therefore relieve the mid summer log jam a little.
The tomato Belle seeds were finished last year and while this variety has done ok in the greenhouse they do take a long time to ripen (beefsteak variety) and this year when picked green they rotted instead of ripening. So I decided to try Brandy Boy, which apparently ripens early.
That should have been it really but...
They have the yellow climbing bean Nectargold, which I've looked at before, so I thought I might as well get some. Then my eye was caught by some purple sugar snap peas (Magnolia). Last time I tried purple mangetout (Shiraz) I thought they were horrible, but these might be nicer (I hope). I also got a packet of the other melon I grew this year, Alvaro, and was tempted by calabrese Baby Matsuri, which is apparently small enough to grow under cloches (and will therefore fit under my shelving, which Sakura doesn't).
Thankfully I don't need to look for anything else in the seed department as I now have everything I could possibly want!
