Chillies - growing and overwintering 2018

Amateur question:-

Sowed 8 Habenero seeds in a heated propagator. 6 germinated. After one day removed from the heat at which point 3 were strong and 3 hadn’t grown much but were covered in a mound like substance. Two days on and the mouldy shoots still look the same and have hardly grown. Is this over watering or something to do with airflow or another issue?

Mouldy isn't good. The likelihood is that they won't make it. You might want to remove the mouldy ones to keep the other three healthy, if they are in the same seedtray or pot.

Can you take the mouldy soil from the top of the soil.

One has regained some vigour and looks quite healthy now, the others have shrivelled away.

Re watering I tend to just water through the bases as a posed to watering into the propagator top.

Tried to post photos but technology hot the better of me!

More curious as to why it's happened really as that's all the indoor proporgating I'm planning for this year. Got a healthy lot of tomatoes and chillis so will be concentrating on planting in the greenhouse and raised beds when the weather permits.

Are you sure it was mould? That doesn’t sound right, especially if you are watering from the bottom.How wet is your compost .....was it the seed case?

Which variety is that, if you don't mind my asking?

I'm calling them 'Turbo Alberto'.

They originally came from a grower not on the vine who had crossed two C. pub varieties, Alberto's Locoto and Turbo Pube.

Will definitely be growing again, and have a few spares available as part of my Seed Offer.

I'm not convinced my Christmas present seeds are what they say they are.
Anyone got any idea if they are or not. I know they are still little and it's considerably easier when they are full of chillies

Finally able to get a good look at this picture and OMG, it's sprawling everywhere! I am intending for the rocotos to go outside when the weather warms up, but how on earth am I supposed to find room for them indoors until.

They are really slow growing, youmaynot get a big crop from a plant grown on outside. I know one year Jack grew the red manzano and the fruit didn’t have time to ripen. They are the best plants to overwinter though.

Just been in Poundland and noticed they selling small bottles of concentrate liquid fertilisers, one called grow which has higher nitrogen, one called bloom with NPK of 5-4-9 and one called "PK" with NPK of 0-13-14.

Are any of these likely to be of use to me, or are they a bit strong?

Hmmm...too early to be sure. Don't think they look typical of either annuums or chinense

But also, don't they all look remarkably the same to you, even though they're supposedly four different varieties?

The bloom with NPK of 5-4-9 is similar to typical tomato/chilli feed ratios, so that would be the one to go for. And dilute according to instructions.
