Nothing seems to be working this year. I have sown tomatoes, chillis, kales, leeks and shallots indoors and none seem to be growing well
Most tomatoes have stayed the same size, as have the leeks - they dont seem to have grown at all in the past month and the shallots (from seed) seem to just die away. I start off the same time every year indoors and its never been like this. Its like they know its cold out there so don't see the point in growing at all!
Today I sowed in the greenhouse some pak Choi, my blue poppies, and potato seeds.
Indoors on my window sill my sun folds I sew 2 weeks ago have come through, the sunflowers are too.
My other tomato has come through too. SAN marines or something. Cucumber are also up and through.
In the greenhouse all brocilli seeds have come through.... this was from sowing a week ago
Cauliflower is starting to come up, all marigolds poking through, radishes and spring onions also up..... and lettuce.
The chillis, jalepino, sweet pepper, aubergine, and onions and pepino are yet to make an appearance
All started indoors, with a view to a pretty early hardening off in the case of most. The perilla will definitely stay on a window sill, and I may keep the basil and summer savoury indoors too. It really depends how much window sill space I have spare, given I want to keep my aubergines and peppers indoors too (the chillies are going to have to take their chances in the sun-room). I have a big bay window in my living room that is currently too cold for anything to grow (as the only large window in my house that isn't over a radiator) but once we get to summer, it should be okay.
Put my Parsnip seeds in a little plastic container on some damp toilet roll and put the lid on. Hopefully by the time they germinate the weather will be a little bit warmer and i can get them put straight in the ground.
I thought I would try and grow some potatoes this year. I bought some potato growbags to go on my patio. Yesterday I planted some Maris Piper potatoes that had sprouted and today I woke to snow. Luckily I haven't actually planted any of the seed potatoes I bought. I'm going to put those in the greenhouse until after the last frost then move them.
