I warmed up some compost overnight and today I sowed some Early Jalapenos, peppers Orange Bell, King of the North and Kaibi Round No 2, and cauliflower All The Year Round. These will sit in the heated propagator in the greenhouse but I will have to keep my fingers crossed - the seed is a bit old.

I sowed some pepper seeds last week but made the mistake of using some left over potting mix from last year. I currently have about 8 seedling that I believe are sunflowers but no pepper seedlings. Luckily it's still early so I'll sow another batch.

Last week I sowed a couple of chilli peppers, sweet peppers, oregano, basil (Red & green), tomatoes and brocoli, all indoors, and all have germinated.
Also have a tray of spinach in the GH and planted out onions, garlic, ginger in a raised bed.

I am also going to start a two week sowing cycle in the propagator for early spring flowers starting tomorrow.

Calendars and dates are lost on me! 😁

The last batch of sweet peppers and chilli seeds got planted today. As did about 80 broad beans in cardboard tubes in the tunnel.

Today I've sown cleome ' Helen Campbell, dwarf delphinium, antirrinum and lychnis. I might sow some more toms, I've already got some that are nearly ready for pricking out but I've been waiting to sow the rest to see if there's much difference between early and later sown plants.

I’ve got spinach, perpetual spinach and Alisa Craig onion seeds on my windowsill. All germinating well. I’m hoping it’s not too soon to be growing these. Flat leaf parsley seeds doing precisely nothing.
And I have ten little curled parsley plants transplanted from a supermarket pot of parsley. I’ll plant them out about the garden once this cold spell ends, maybe via a short stay in polytunnel to toughen them up. I did this a couple of years ago and most of them did well. I planted another half dozen directly into polytunnel beds and am hoping these will take off faster than the outside ones.
I havent even considered sowing any tomatoes yet. Maybe March....
                            Happy sowing.

It’s getting up to 56/57 in my greenhouse during the day and not stopping below freezing overnight. I’m actually wondering whether I can sow directly into the greenhouse? I will start off the toms, aubergine and chillies inside regardless and put them out in 4 weeks.

With regards to the last frost date it is the second week of may.... is this only if you want to grow in the open conditions? Would it be ok to start sooner in the greenhouse?

No good for things like tomatoes because even if they survive, they won't grow on properly without warmth. Obviously other things like onions or broad beans will be fine in the cold greenhouse conditions.
