How big are the pots? How long have the plants been in them? They might be keen to get into the ground... Are there roots poking out through the bottom of the pots?

I have sown some more peas for pea-shoots. I already have a couple of egg-box tops (the 12 egg ones) with good shoots (getting close to first harvest, despite the cold and low light) and another just germinating. I've added new soaked peas into the same trays, in the hope of extending my harvest, though this probably means I will need to make sure I feed them after the first couple of harvests as the compost is mostly old and very shallow.

My successional planting fell apart a bit (by which I mean completely) last year because I ran out of containers. This year, I have a better idea about how my slower crops grow, so where I can add random quick crops without needing dedicated containers for everything. Also, I see no reason not to use things that are going to fall apart (like the egg box tops) when I'm going to be done with a crop two or three months after planting. Hmm, depending on what I feed them with, I can presumably just plonk the spent pea-shoots into my worm bin, container and all (torn up, obviously).

My sowing of a winter lettuce mix from a month ago has come to nothing. Ah well, it was an experiment to see how early I might be able to get a crop. I'll sow some more today and keep them in my sun-room for a while, though it may get warm enough in there for them to bolt if I'm not careful. Also planning to sow my first perpetual spinach of the year, and some more cress and mustard.
