  • Planted out some peppers. Prepared flower bed and planted some seedlings.

    Potted more chilli plants.

Trying to grow bitter gourd plant. Have just tied it around one of the runner bean cane. Hopefully it should survive the cold nights. Too big for the window sill.

      • Fed and watered everything in the greenhouse.
Had to damp it down twice today.
Tomatoes and peppers coming along nicely with small fruits on them all.
        Watered my dahlias this evening.
        Spent an hour weeding everything.
        It's still 18degs at 21.30.
Such a change from last week.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

        • Started big house cleaning session ( got people staying Thursday)
Potted on more chillies. Only 7 to go.
Had to pot on some tomatoes that are sold ( it's a sale Bob has sorted out, he's also delivering them. Guess what he hasn't bl@@dy done yet . Poor little toms started to look a little unhappy).

          • Moved the potato pots out of the Potment into a sunnier spot - did some weeding there.
            Planted out some more CFBs.
Bought some French marigolds from the corner shop. Delighted to find that the modules were double sown - potted them on and had 43 plants. Wish I'd noticed when I was buying them as I would have chosen the ones with the most plants in the modules. A lesson for next time!
Picked a cucumber and some strawberries.
            Cleaned out the chook's house.
Went to see my Mum and my brother turned up with one of his dogs. Had a larf.

            • Planted my toms, Super Marmande, into their final pots and put them in the polytunnel. Just about to dispatch my final dahlia to the compost heap when I noticed two tiny green shoots, so with no room in the garden at the moment I resorted to another B&Q bucket to plant it in. Popped over the allotment and planted 5 cabbage, Candissa and did some watering. Beginning to panic a little now - so much to do and we are off on holiday on Saturday for two weeks.

                        • Planted out french beans, which I thought were runner beans, until I thought again about it. Which goes to show that, no, I WON'T easily remember which ones I sowed in rootrainers and which ones I sowed in loo rolls... Did the watering again.

                          • Chard/perpetual spinach looking a bit better today. After removing the damaged leaves and getting a bit of rain they seem to have started growing strongly.

I'm on the verge of giving up on my current radish crop and starting again. I need one of the squares to start planting out my module sown spring onions anyway.

Had fun spraying off the black fly on my broad beans today. The pods are looking nice and big now and drooping down so I think a good selection are ready to harvest.

Our resident starlings look like they are attempting another nest/clutch of eggs. They nest every year in our soffits (we normally have 2 or 3 nests). The last clutch fledged a few weeks ago. I get nervous about them having a late clutch because they have abandoned them before and guess who had to go up in the loft to fetch the remains?

                            • -removed weed control fabric from where the garlic was harvested, weeded the area underneath, very easy because of the fabric being on top since November(no the heavy duty stuff), there were weeds, but just easy to pull up
-weed removal and raking of 3 beds
-made another temporary path with my feet between beds
-hand cut some grass, there is a strimmer, but nobody with the key was about
-harvested a big bag of broadbeans

                              • More house work. Including cleaning windows inside & out ( the things you do when people you've never met are coming to stay )
                                Swept 2 paths between beds.
Weeded all 9 beds, the raspberry bed & 6 big tubs
Spread out the claytonia seedlings ( must of washed all the seeds to the edge when watering)
                                Cleaned out ferrets and chickens
                                Watered all tunnels
                                Tidied big tunnel
Now having a very well deserved pint
