I bombed one of my greenhouses.

And also put the last bits of paint onto a sign I've made to help decorate somewhere on my allotment. It just needs a couple of coats of varnish now before I fix it.

General tidying up of plants after heat damage.

This is what 45+C does to zucchini plants.

I took a walk around my apple trees. One seems to have suffered a bit of damage and the main branches have broken.

This bramley however is proving to have a tenacious grip on its fruit. This is after the two big storms too. Click image for larger version

Added a redcurrant and gooseberry to my future soft fruit zone, plus a bit of general tidying.

Well, yesterday - First trip to the garden centre for the year! bought my chitting potatoes (too many Sharpes' Express, and a few Desree and [other variety I've forgotten]), some 50p plants, some more propagator tops for trays, a bag of compost and seeds. That's almost me done for the year.

Fixed the loose gate posts(wooden ones just driven into the ground)by hammering in some big bits of stone and planted around 50 daffs that I got free from the GC at the weekend(just sprouting, hopefully will be ok). Had a nosey round the green house, will need to pot/wooden trough on my indoor French Strawberries, but not yet look still dormant.

I planted my garlic and made a cloche for it to protect it from the worst of the weather.

Did some tidying in the greenhouse.
Took some withered leaves from my overwintering geraniums.
Put my seed potatoes in the conservatory to chit.
Feel we are getting just a little bit nearer to the growing season.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

Scraped the nasty green 'carpet' off the surface of the soil around my onion sets in the polytunnel.
Pruned my redcurrant bush - hopefully i've done a reasonable job this time - last year I cut out ALL the old wood - which meant that I didn't get a single redcurrant this season - oops!
                        Pulled up a few weeds.
                        He-Pep!

Divided my strawberry plants. They're not doing much anyway, so I don't think it will do any harm.

Despite the snow here today it was nice and warm in my greenhouse with the heater on and there was some extra warmth when the sun shone so I potted on 56 baby plum tomato plants. obviously I'm not going to grow them all myself. I've got a list of people as long as my arm who want some of the plants. There's still plenty left to transplant if many of these fail.
