greenhouse day:-
planted put my toms and cucumbers (with sweet potato in the same tub), set up the watering system, planted bulbs outside. had a bit of father-and-son gardening as we planted out the small person's sunflowers. pruned the grape vine and re-organised the green house. saw four frogs in the pond (and a newt).
it's about to be flying ant day - there was an ant's nest right in the door of the compost heap and I had to shovel a lot of very cross winged ants.

Last few days and today. Helped OH erect the new archway tunnel - think I can safely call it a pergola. Painted it and OH and I attached trellis to the sides to grow veg up. Lots of weeding. Planted out courgettes - 6 black beauty, 6 summer crookneck, 4 trombos up the arches and 1 up the fence. Planted out climbing beans and fat babies.Another happy Nutter...

Made up the final potting mix for my 6 Padron chillies. Filled my pots with it and watered them, ready for transplanting sometime this week when I get a chance. Realised there will only be room for 5 in my blowaway, so the other one will have to go in the tunnel.He-Pep!

[Yesterday] Watered. Watered some more. In all spent two hours at the plot, trudging back and forth to the standpipe with two watering cans, cursing the vagaries of Cumbrian weather.
Tied up some sunflowers for a bit of variety. Picked a lettuce.
Watered.

Weeded, planted out half of leeks (at home), then down at the plot lots of watering, planted out celeriac , courgettes and patty pan. Plans for where to plant stuff rapidly going up the spout as spring all happened v late -so early stuff isn’t ready to come out to make way for late stuff - had to resort to putting half the curcurbits in the ‘rotting down’ muck heap, which they will either love or hate ;-)

No gardening today, helping at school fundraiser, but I bought two trays of great looking french beans, mine didn't germinate. Happy days. They were grown down south (Scotland still!) by someones dad, hope they like it here.Last edited by elsie-scot; 10-06-2018, 10:55 PM.Elsie

Weeded as per norm.
My garlic leaves are going brown now - too early for me but I may have to lift them soon before they split - thats going to mean smaller undersized bulbs. Boohiss.
Tied up the gooseberries on the fence as they were bent double. Looks like a nice crop is on the way.
A couple are starting to change colour which is always a nice sign
The red currants and black currants are also loaded with berries which are starting to get a flush of colour.
The grape vines have put on a healthy amount of growth and have some tinsy winsy bunches of flowers on them.

Brushed aphids off of Dahlias, dead headed Dahlias & Iris' dug up and replaced a Dahlia that wasn't doing so well and replaced with another, made a cup of coffee to sit out in the garden with and then it started raining so made do with looking out the conservatory windows
