Tomatoes 2018 - What will you be attempting to grow this year

You're very lucky snoop!
You can't go round putting random links to some of my favourite seed companies!
I filled my basket with seed including big daddy toms!
Then had second thoughts and deleted it all ( which I'm having second second thoughts about ).
You would of been in trouble if I'd ordered more seeds
You still might be ( will power.......fading! )

Bought a packet of Black Russian seeds today.
Googled some info on them and one of the sites said NOT to grow them in a warm greenhouse as they grow better outdoors.
Anybody else know anything about this tomato as it's my first time growing it.
And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

Never grown em Bramble, but sure many others have and can award you there experience
But a quick google (And I do rely on a lot of info from this site) states they are better grown "Undercover"

I will be growing three varieties from seed (or at least attempting!):-
Shirley(never done before).
Cherry Falls (for my hanging baskets, never done before).
Either - Moneymaker or Gardeners Delight (done both before but not decided which one yet).
Kind Regards.......Rob

Big Daddy plants don't like going thirsty as the toms can split if not kept regularly watered. But I grow them every year now and wouldn't be without them. I started growing Pantano a couple of years ago. I'm half tempted not to grow any Marmandes, as they and the Pantanos are very similar. The Pantanos are very vigorous plants and the tomatoes are a bit bigger than Marmandes, but the Marmandes kept going longer, even if the last ones were quite small.
Conditions where I am are pretty good for growing tomatoes outdoors. County Down might be another matter! Pantano Romanesco are so vigorous, I'm sure they'd do well anywhere. But if you want a slice of tomato that's better than tomato sauce in a burger, then Big Daddy's what you want.
I bought seeds for all three of these from Premier Seeds direct. They're currently selling Big Daddy at 99 p for 12 seeds, 69 p for five. Not too bad for an experiment. Pantano Romanesco are a hundred seeds for 99 p. TOMATO BIG DADDY | Tomato | Premier Seeds Direct ltd
I took the plunge and got 10 seeds to see how I get on in my northerly clime.
I also got some sweet banana pepper seeds that I didn't need...!

Where was the site that suggested not? The US grow a lot of tomatoes outdoors that I don't think we could manage in the UK. I grew them in 2013-15 and I have them as mid/late ripening with sizes of up to about 300g but not as many fruit as Black Krim.

Provisional grow list and will get revised. Will probably start with oldest seeds to give them a chance, and keep sowing untill I have around 30 varieties.
Don't really have enough space for all of these, and will find homes locally for spare plants.
But it's another year when too many tomatoes will be barely enough

Cadalot had a good system on his blog of growing the oldest seeds first, write all the seeds out with the years, arrange what needs to be sowed first to get fresh seeds from first & then the next year sow the next oldest seeds to save seeds from. It’s probably how a lot of people do it but I’d never thought about it until now,I usually want to grow every variety Ive got but I have to be selective because of spaceLocation : Essex
