    I may regret asking this
    I'm after recommendations on varieties.
It's one crop I've never experimented with! I always grow red drumhead, savoy ( standard, summer type I think ) and golden acre.
Don't get me wrong they are all very good varieties and I'm going to take some persuading to try something new, but I feel I should.
Is there anything else I should be considering as well as or instead of ?
I was wondering about a winter variety. I'll still have sprouts in the ground so why not cabbage as well.

Before anyone suggests I grow 52 varieties so I can pick a different one every week all year round...............NO

"Tundra" is a very frost hardy cabbage, sown April to May stands well over winter for a solid heart

"Duncan" is another reliable cropper, again stands well over winter to provide nice fresh greens come spring

And two I keep threatening to try have a stab at and have rave reviews are "Kilaxy" and "Marabel" maybe this year?

After some rather poor brussels last year, I have a hankering for some winter cabbage too, I only grew golden acre primo, though even as summer cabbages, there's still 3 small ones frozen into the ground.

Oh and "Offernham 2" is another I've grown, and a good allrounder for both summer and winter!

Duncan is a variety I have grown through winter which seems to do well at my friend's. I grow Hispi in the summer, which seems to be fashoinable at the moment as I noticed it got several mentions on Masterchef this year as part of various dishes - "Hispi cabbage" rather than just "cabbage".

                  Very good alphabet, SP.
I have cabbages that can be sown each month from January - Sept - but stuck on Oct, Nov & Dec. Just have to stretch their sowing dates a little.

Just read that a good cabbage to sow now is Golden Acre Primo for early cabbages in April. I know its already been mentioned but don't know whether sow them now? My packet says sow Feb - May & harvest June - October.
I'll start a few in Leaves week (22nd Jan)

And adding to the wanna try wish list would be.......Holland winter white and Filderkraut

Coz these two have rave ratings too!

But am walking toward the light and away from this thread, as my plot would just be a sea of sprouts n cabbages! ........................

I can fill in two of those gaps with Czech varieties - Unikat F1 and Zora.

Oh, there's a Slovak summer cabbage called Inter. Now we just need X and Y.
