  • Calling all Aberdeen growers!

    Hi All,
New to this site but have been growing for a couple of years in my (helping an old lady "squatting"!, but I can't grow anything permanent as I have no official rights to the plot) allotment in Aberdeen city centre. I'm planning on moving all my raised beds, fruit bushes, herbs etc to my other space which has a poly tunnel where I've been growing salad leaves & oriental herbs for my restaurant.
Reason I'm asking for advice: I've been given the area around the tunnel to use (about half an acre!!), it's on a north facing pasture hill down to the Dee & the soil is really sandy. I'm very interested in the "no dig" method as the thought of turning over all that grass really depresses me and I've got tons of cardboard boxes from the restaurant & access to as much manure as I need..
So, any advice on what to grow in all seasons in this area would be fantastic! Don't want to grow too many potatoes as I don't use them in the restaurant; personal consumption only..
    Thanks in advance!

Hi Yatman and welcome to the Forum.
Can't help you on growing in Aberdeen, sorry, but you must have a good idea from working on the allotment. Maybe, if you gave us some idea of what you would like to grow, somebody could tell you whether they've had success with it, in your part of the UK.
