VC were your courgettes planted straight in ground? What sort of soil are you on? This might be worth a try fro next year, will have to make an area less clayey I think, and maybe a little mound.

Started 4 seeds indoors in a heated prop, (3 germinated) then on the window sill until it warmed up enough to move into the GH during the day.
I put one of the plastic tunnels over some ground to warm it up a bit, then planted the courgettes on a little mound and put a bottomless flower bucket around them as a bit of protection from the wind.
All 3 plants survived and 2 have courgettes.
No idea what my soil is - sorry. Its not too clayey.

Not much is close to ready yet, although I did get some rhubarb a few weeks ago and picked some lambs lettuce the other day. At least able to pick some herbs now and the first of the basil from this year is able to be picked now.

Not an edible, but...my first sweet pea flower blossomed today.
                    A lovely lilac colour.
The perfume was enough to remind me it was worth the effort of sowing early.

And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

Picked my first strawberry today. I have no idea what they are, but the raised bed was full of them when we bought the house and I moved them into containers a few months ago, left them in the corner of the garden and forgot about them. I must have over thirty plants and all of them are producing plenty of fruits, and many are almost all red. Nom nom nom.
