I personally would not put slug pellets in the bottom of the container but I would sprinkle them round the outside if I had an attack.
Thanks. I was looking online about potatoes in containers. They all seemed to have drainage holes, and the containers were placed on soil. I don't have enough space for soil or any more raised beds so was looking at putting containers on the patio and growing potatoes there instead.

Mine go direct in the earth. Dibber a hole, drop the spud in with a handful of BFB in the general area then rake it over to cover.

I don't have any earth/soil at all, all my containers sit on either paving slabs or concrete, that's why I will use a small amount of slug pellets without fear of contamination. I also cover them to stop other species getting to them.
