  • Seed Potatoes and Onion Sets

Morning All! Went to the Whitchurch (Hampshire) Potato Day earlier. Bought 2 x 2.5kg sacks of "Ramos" potatoes for £6, 2 x 250gr onion sets "Red Baron" and "Sturon" for £4 and 2 large potato storage sacks for £3, so £13 in total. Happy with that! "Ramos"spuds seem quite well reviewed, has anyone grown them before? Have a nice day.

Hi freefolk. I hadn't heard of Ramos before so I did a quick looked-up. They are apparently a good chipping potato of cooking type B/C, which means high dry matter aka floury. So I would probably love them. But the people who were complaining on another thread about spuds falling apart when you boil them would hate them.

Sounds like you came away happy. But I don't think you quite understand the point of potato days. You're supposed to buy small quantities of at least 20 different varieties, not two whole bags of the same kind

Yep I get that, but we couldn't resist the "Ramos" especially as we have a son and Grandson who are partial to chips, and they are supposed to be an excellent "chipper".
