  • Sugar Snap Pea - 'Tall Sugar'

Charles Dowding mentioned this variety in his latest video on growing peas - does anyone know this variety and where to source it. I have drawn a blank on google

    Thanks
    Guy

I suspect Dowding's tall sugar snap is probably the original pea just called "sugar snap" which grows to 6ft.

In my search for a good tall sugarsnap, there have been mainly good reviews for the new Spring Blush snap pea.
I succumbed to the sales blurb/pretty pictures and ordered some to try lol

I've been looking at those too, Thelma. Haven't weakened yet.

Have you tried Opal Creek & Sugar Magnolia?

Last year, I picked up a few Opal Creek and Spring Blush peas at a seed swap - think they were from Baker Creek, but sadly, none of them germinated.
Never thought that Spring Blush would be on sale everywhere now!

Funny, I was thinking about tall sugarsnaps again this morning.

I wasn't impressed with the Spring Blush I grew, and won't grow them again this year. Although the pods were pretty, the peas weren't very sweet and the pods didn't thicken up - they stayed thin like mangetout pods despite being getting watered regularly.

Do you think he might share some? Keep the seed stock going?
